Mom Accidentally Videos Her Own Reaction — Instead of Daughter's Proposal

And I—oop.

If one thing is certain throughout the ages, it is that moms will be moms. And moms + big moments + technology is an equation that sometimes yields hilarious results, as in the case of one mama who goofed while attempting to record one of the most important moments of her daughter’s life.

Susan Griego was given one job: to catch her future son-in-law’s proposal on video at the Albuquerque Biopark. Benjamin Steele Bacon entrusted Griego to handle the tech side of things for him. However, her phone camera wasn’t working well, so somehow he managed to slip her her daughter Amber’s phone — which she didn’t quite know how to operate.

When the big moment occurred, Susan Griego managed to take a selfie video instead. Her reaction to the proposal was immortalized for all time, rather than, you know, the bride-to-be’s surprised face, the lovely ring, or the future groom down on one knee. Meh, who needs that stuff? We think Susan Griego is cuter than all that.

“I couldn’t figure out how to work it and I’m taking a selfie of myself and I realize I’m filming myself instead of them and I’m laughing and we’re all laughing and I guess I’m not very good at photography,” Susan told media outlet KOB News.

Benjamin Steele Bacon and Amber Griego, who have been together for three years, spoke with various news outlets as well, saying all is forgiven.

“I feel like that’s kind of our relationship,” Amber said to KOB. “Something wacky and random. It’s the perfect start to this.”

Bacon told Fox News that the proposal was a “perfect moment,” despite the “tech mistake.”

“I wouldn’t change any of it,” he said. “We have had a good laugh at the failed video, and will never forget the moment now.”

Social media shared in the laugh:

We have to agree with Emily: This is extremely our mother, too.

Our best wishes to Amber and Benjamin and mama Susan — may they all hire the best videographer they can possibly afford for the actual wedding.
