Can’t lose belly fat? Fitness influencer reveals why getting abs can be tricky
Many of us wish our tummies were a little flatter.
But according to this fitness influencer, getting washboard abs can be harder than dieting and working out.
In a candid Instagram post, Hannah Barry revealed that it’s genetically difficult for some to achieve six-packs.
The social media star has since been praised for her honesty.
Hannah shares advice with her 65,600 Instagram followers on the @squattingsushi page.
And in her latest post, she admitted it can be trickier for some to maintain rock-hard abs.
She explained: “How to get abs.
“First things first – everyone has abs.
“How visible your abs are comes down to your body fat percentage, where you genetically store fat and the thickness of your abdominal wall.
“Also high waisted leggings, good lighting and a tan.”

Hannah added that genetics and anatomy also play a role in women’s ability to tone up.
She said: “A lot of females will not be able to maintain a flush six-pack for many reasons – the first being that they’d have to take and maintain their body fat in an unhealthy percentage.
“Whilst everybody is comfortable at a different level, the female anatomy is naturally engineered to bear a child – and for that reason alone, females require a higher body fat level than a male…
“Something to remember is everybody is different…
“Visible abs are not the be all and end all – and for some are also genetically unhealthy.”
Many were pleased that Hannah spoke so honestly about fitness.
More than 1,400 liked her Instagram post, with many branding her an “inspiration”.
One commenter remarked: “You’re ABSolutely fabulous Hannah.

Another said: “Best words regarding that issue I’ve ever read so far.”
