Bride-To-Be Threatens To Ditch Made-Of-Honour For Not Losing Baby Weight

Ok brides, we get it – weddings are stressful. But the months of planning, catering coordination, guest list negotiating and dress shopping is not justification for you to lose your moral compass, capiche?

Case in point: the bride who recently asked the Internet if it was ok for her to ditch her maid of honour because she hadn’t lost her “baby weight” in time for the wedding.

“So my friend who is my maid of honour in my wedding recently gave birth and she hasn’t yet lost the baby weight,” said the bride in a now deleted post on a mums forum, according to Fox NewsShe noted her dismay that it had been three weeks.

Yes you read that correctly. Three. Whole. Weeks.

“She said she has a back-up dress and I’m saying hell no to that,” she noted. “I’m not fat shaming but come on. My wedding is only one day and I’m not having it ruined by her or her baby weight.”

“She may not even fit her dress. I refuse to have it altered again. It was already altered multiple times for her and she said she’d fit into it,” she adds.

She then asked if it was “wrong” to replace to maid-of-honour with “someone else” she has in mind if the new mum was not able to fit into the dress by the wedding.

Although it is assumed the woman was looking for some sort of affirmation, her queries were not well received. Humanity restored itself with the bride-to-be being condemned by other forum users for being “selfish” and “disgusting”.

“This bride is an idiot,” one wrote. “You don’t just drop postpartum weight within a few weeks of giving birth. Sometimes it takes months.”

“Does she not realise what the body goes through in order to hold another human? It takes much longer than 3 weeks,” another user noted.

“What kind of shallow person is this? If your friend is a good enough friend to be your [maid of honour], then YOU ought to be a good enough friend to care more about them than how they look in a picture,” another commented.

No matter how many cake testings, dress alterations and venue viewings you have had to go to, it is never okay to critique the body of a woman who has just given birth, unless you want to be labelled ‘bridezilla’ that is.
