Here’s how to get good feng shui in your house

Feng shui is something we all need in our life. As Feng Shui expert and Nectar Life Hacks Host Priya Sher told Good Homes Magazine, “Its principles maintain that we live in harmony with our environment. Its aim is to achieve balance in your living and working space and maximize your potential for success in all areas of your life.” She then explained, “Translated, feng shui means ‘wind water’. First things first, you need to declutter the entrance to your home, Marie Kondo style. “A cluttered space disrupts the home’s flow, creating negative energy,” Laura Cerrano of Feng Shui Manhattan warned in Oprah Magazine. “Never block the front entrance from the outside or inside. Let there be a clear path,” Cerrano continued. Speaking of the front entrance, and more specifically your front door, it “should be in perfect condition as it represents wealth,” advised Sher. 

Good feng shui in the bedroom can help you sleep

When it comes to your kitchen, you should avoid keeping anything that’s broken or out of date. “It’s [also] ideal to have the stove and sink diagonal to each other,” Cerrano told Oprah Magazine. “If you must position appliances next to each other, make sure there’s a bit of counter space between them so they aren’t directly touching, that way they can breathe.” Sher agrees, pointing out that the colors you choose are also very important. “Avoid too much black and red as that also causes a fire and water crash,” she told Good Homes Magazine

Feng shui can also affect your sleeping patterns, so it’s best to position your bed so that it’s facing the door. “To encourage a restful sleep, the bedrooms must be a light neutral colour and the beds must have a headboard and be positioned with the headboard against a solid wall,” Sher explained. “Place bedside tables either side of the bed to provide support,” she added. Even if you can’t implement all of Sher’s and Cerrano’s advice, even minor changes may make a difference.
