Polo Player and Model Nacho Figueras to Launch Fragrance Collection

Argentinian polo player, charity ambassador and model Nacho Figueras is launching his first luxury fragrance line, the Ignacio Figueras Collection, exclusively at Bergdorf Goodman on Dec. 11.
The six-scent collection is influenced by Figueras’ polo career and the scents are named after international polo tournament destinations — Buenos Aires, Figueras’ home city; Palm Beach, Fla.; Aspen, Colo.; Windsor, England, the site outside London of many a polo tournament; Jaipur, and Dubai.
“We cannot deny my 20-year connection with Ralph Lauren and me being the face of fragrances for a very long time. I wanted to tell my own story, starting with the things I care about the most — family, travel through polo and charity,” said Figueras.
The longtime face of Ralph Lauren fragrances developed the line for almost two years with master perfumer Carlos Benaim, who Figueras had known for a long time. Benaim has created fragrances for Frédéric Malle, Calvin Klein, Givenchy, Prada and Polo Ralph Lauren.
Each scent sells for $275 and nods to the cities they are named after. They also come in a bottle that features a horseshoe. “We love our horses and it represents the passion we have,” said Figueras.
“It was a lot of work, but we’re very, very happy with the outcome,” he added. “It took a while, but we were also very active. If you check with the team, they’ll say I like to be very hands-on and proactive. I come back and say, 'where are we with this?' I love this project and I think it can be the beginning of something great.”
He also credits his wife, Delfina, with the development of the collection as well as his daughter, Aurora, who “came to a lot of the meetings.”
Figueras has plans to take the fragrance to Europe, and aspires to launch in Dubai and India.
Sales of the collection will also raise funds for Sentebale, a charity that supports mental health and well-being of children and young people in Lesotho and Botswana affected by HIV. Figueras has backed the charity for 13 years, and helped raise money for the charity with Prince Harry through polo matches.
“It was a very humbling thing to see these kids and how happy they are,” Figueras said. “I wanted my kids to understand how lucky they are and also how important it is giving back. I hope this fragrance collection will be very successful for the charity and these kids. It’s something I’m not doing for myself. This is not a vanity product at all. It’s about how we can make a bigger approach.”
As one of Polo Ralph Lauren’s more famous faces, Figueras said he received Ralph Lauren’s blessing for the collection.
“He has been a mentor of mine and has been a mentor in my life so it was important to have his blessing,” he said. “He was super supportive, a great man, a very talented man and a man I was very honored to work with for a very long time."
