Cult Sustainable Skincare Brand Ethique is Launching 2 New Beauty Bars

Sure, we’re all trying to make moves in the right direction in terms of sustainable living – but when it comes to your beauty routine, it can be tough to know where to start.

However sometimes – just sometimes – there comes a moment when the beauty stars align and we are blessed with a beauty product that not only delivers on what it promises, but does so in a sustainable, clean way. And this is exactly what we got when, three years ago, Ethique launched its sustainable beauty bars.

The brand’s solid beauty bars – think shampoos, conditioners, body washes and face scrubs – arrive in a simple compostable paper sleeve and are completely free from plastic packaging, meaning you can pretty much kit out your entire bathroom without contributing to landfill rubbish.

From the detoxing charcoal body wash to the soothing jasmine body butter, every creation is vegan-friendly, free from unsustainable palm oil and certified cruelty-free.

However now, in the aim of diversifying the range, Ethique will be launching two brand new concentrated shampoo and conditioner bars scientifically formulated for wavy, curly and coily hair: Curliosity solid conditioner and co-wash, and Professor Curl solid shampoo.

The duo offer a carefully curated blend of ingredients proven to protect and enhance curls, are in line with Ethique’s unparalleled sustainability credentials (100% plastic-free, cruelty-free, vegan, palm-oil free, sustainably sourced and ethically traded), and claim to reform luscious locks and promote soft, shiny, bouncy hair. They’re also packaged the 100% certified home-compostable materials which can simply beopped into home compost bins or gardens to return nutrients to the earth.

“We want everyone to be able to give up the bottle and we understand curly hair comes with different requirements to other hair types. We’re excited our curly community has another option when it comes to plastic- free hair care,” explains Environmentalist, scientist and founder of Ethique, Brianne West. “Professor Curl is probably one of the best shampoos we’ve ever made – it has a super creamy lather and really light finish. Curliosity is extra special too… it’s the equivalent of nine bottles of conditioner in one concentrated little bar, which is the best value conditioner out there. It can be used as a conditioner, co-wash or as a leave-in treatment which even our straight-haired friends can use for deep conditioning.”

The products free of waxes, silicones, sulfates and drying alcohols – ingredients often found in regular hair-care products but which can sometimes be drying or damaging for the moredelicate structure of curly hair strands. Instead, the unique range is formulated with nourishing shea butter, organic and fair trade cocoa butter and conditioning, beet-derived betaine amongst other nourishing ingredients to efficiently care for, enhance and protect all kinds of curls.

Judging by how quickly the bars sold out last time, we suggest you get to it.

“Professor Curl” solid shampoo (108g) $22 AUD and “Curliosity” solid conditioner and cowash (110g) $25 AUD are now available to shop online in Australia and New Zealand from today. ethiqueworld.com.
