Kaavia James Jokes She Contributes ‘60-40’ in Her House & We Are on the Floor Laughing With Mom Gabrielle Union
Kaavia James is paying more than her fair share to the Union-Wade household, thank you very much. The 4-year-old took to Instagram to talk about her money (as you do), when her mom Gabrielle Union asked her an apparently very controversial question about splitting the bills. Shady Baby’s answer literally sent Union to the floor laughing, it was so cute.
The video starts with Kaavia, dressed in a pretty white summer dress, talking about money. The Truth Be Told star, who shares Kaavia with husband Dwyane Wade, asked her: “Your money’s not in the bank?”
Kaavia responded, “It’s still in there but I got more money.” She emphasizes this with a twirl. You go girl! Be proud of that hard-earned cash.

But one thing remains unclear… “Are you paying your taxes, Kaav?” Union asks.
After a look (you know the one) and a little tap dance, Kaavia says, “A lot.” Then she pops a snack in her mouth, like that’s the end of that conversation.
Except…it’s not. “Do you pay state and federal?” Union pushes, trying to make sure her baby girl is committing zero crimes today. She doesn’t answer at first, so Union asks again, “Girl, did you pay your taxes?”
This time, she’s decisively nods and says, “Tax!” You know she’s on top of it.
Paying the bills is something Kaavia excels at, apparently. Next, Union asks, “Kaav, do you pay fifty-fifty in this house?”
Kaavia smiles and answers in the sweetest voice possible, “Sixty.” She then twirls like the queen she is. In the next shot, Union falls to the floor laughing and the camera pans over to several other women cracking up at Kaavia’s answer.

Gabrielle Union & Dwyane Wade Split Bills 50-50
Last week, Union told Noah Callahan-Bever on his Bloomberg Originals series, Idea Generation, that her and Wade split their household bills 50-50.
When Callahan-Bever asked her if she feels financial security, she admitted, “I struggle with that.”
“I think I just have more responsibilities for my money. So I get nervous like, ‘Oh my God that movie didn’t open [well]. What does that mean? Am I going to have enough to hold everybody up?” she said in the interview, per Essence. “And everyone’s like, ‘It’s coming. Calm down.’ I’m trying to find peace in the journey, not using my anxiety and scarcity mindset to be my engine, which is hard.”
She added, “In this household, we split everything 50/50. But in the other households that each of us have to support, there’s always this gorilla on your back that’s like, ‘You better work! You’re going to sleep in? Somebody might not eat.’ It’s hard. It’s hard to let that go, so I’m working on it.”

People Had Thoughts About This Arrangement
Apparently, what Union and Wade do in their house with their money made some people unhappy.
One person tweeted, “Gabrielle Union said she go 50/50 with a man who is a part owner of an NBA team. the lights are on but ain’t nobody home.”
“Gabrielle Union going 50/50 with a man who is worth 3 times more than her doesnt sit right with me… anyway none of my business!” another wrote.
Another said, “Women are terrified of 50/50 because the unpaid labour is rarely 50/50 – so women end up being exploited. This is a working class, poor people issue. Please stop projecting on to millionaires Gabrielle Union, and Dwayne Wade.”
Beverley Andre, LMFT, posted about their situation on Instagram, writing, “Are you team 50/50? As for me, I’m team whatever makes sense for the household and is mutually agreed on.”
Union commented to explain more about the situation.
“Every household is different and doing what’s best for you and yours is the key,” she wrote. “And what some don’t understand is that I’m 100% responsible for 3 other households and D has even more. The majority of those households are elderly ppl and minors. We both come from families that step up to help care for children or elderly relatives. So being able to be with someone who meets me half way and lightens my load gives me peace and support.”
She went on, “He’s offered to cover me trust, but that’s not my ministry nor brings me peace. All that to say, I love how we recognize that there’s billions of ways to exist and you just gotta find what’s right for you that brings YOU peace. I found mine ❤️” Amen, sister!

Kaavia Brought Humor to the Situation
Like she tends to do, Kaavia brought some humor to the situation. Her video, which was simply captioned, “60-40,” made so many people laugh.
“Kaav is carrying the household. Now we know why she calls the shots. ? ? ?,” one person wrote.
“The dress, the shoes, the hair it all says boss,” another wrote.
Someone else pointed out, “Kaav doesn’t even know the GRAVITY of humor her comment just had!!!! ???”
“Y’all heard my niece she said what she said 60! ?,” another wrote.
Someone else said, “She knows the majority rules! Don’t play with Kaav ?”
“Nah 60 just took me out ???????,” another wrote.
Moral of the story: don’t mess with Shady Baby — she will put you in your place every time like the self-confident queen she is.
