David Babaii Tested His New Hair Product Line on Angelina Jolie
David Babaii is one confident guy. Not only is he not shy about how in-demand he is and how much his celebrity clients love him — he told Vogue they tell him "You make us fall in love with you and then you're never available" — he also tested some of the products from his newly launched brand, n:p beautiful, on those celebrity heads.
"Angelina [Jolie] loves this product because she has flat, fine hair and she loves big hair," he told Vogue of his new Volumizing Spray. "She was my guinea pig." It's not every day you hear someone refer to one of the most famous women in the world as a guinea pig, but that's the kind of relationship Babaii has with celebrities like Jolie, Uma Thurman, Kate Hudson, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Scarlett Johansson, many of whom got to try the collection of three shampoos, three conditioners, dry shampoo, beach spray, serum, and the aforementioned Volumizing Spray before their recent launch.
One of the reasons celebrities offered up their hair to Babaii may be because of how meticulous he was about the development of n:p beautiful. In addition to ensuring the line would be eco-friendly, he wanted the locations from which the ingredients are sourced to benefit. "I went to the locations — planes, boats, trains, a donkey — to be sure it was helping the communities,"Babaii said. "I didn't want anyone [calling] bullshit. I wanted it to be sustainable [with great] ingredients." Furthermore, ten percent of the proceeds from sales of the products will go to the two causes most important to him: pancreatic cancer research and animal welfare.
In addition to the styling and care products, the n:p beautiful launch includes three tools, all which Babaii says he dreamed up while eating gelato in Italy: a lightweight dryer with an extra-long cord, a curling iron with a one-inch barrel, and a vibrating flat iron with ceramic and tourmaline plates. "Ergonomically the tip fits the finger so well, and the vibrating technology [has] a pulse that shuffles the hair so you have a straight swipe — one pass. [It] heats up in 30 seconds and doesn't strip or burn hair," he told Vogue.
Ranging from $27 to $249, np: beautiful products are now available at npbeautiful.com — no donkey rides or celebrity status required.
