The Suicide Squad\u2019s Flula Borg Eats Seven Meals a Day
You may not recognize his face yet, but Flula Borg is an actor who’s been in various animated and live-action shows including Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Good Place and Teen Titans Go! If none of those rang any bells, you’ll definitely know him after you see his performance in The Suicide Squad. He’s playing the criminal-turned-hero Javelin, alongside Margot Robbie, John Cena, Idris Elba, and others.
In a recent Eat Like, Borg revealed to Men’s Health what his diet and workout regimen looks like. Borg says he doesn’t like to think a lot about his meals, so he eats a lot of the same things every day instead of worrying about variety. “It’s like those bumpers if you’re playing bumper bowling. My bumpers are efficiency and deliciousy,” he says.
He doesn’t count calories, but meals. Each of his meals are relatively small, so he has about 7 a day. Starting with breakfast, he wakes up and makes two eggs and egg whites. He cooks them for four minutes and “inhales” them before his next meal half an hour later. Plain yogurt, sometimes with fruit, is next in his long list of meals.
Then, onto smoothies. Borg has not one, but two smoothies with around 30 grams of protein in them. They’re vegetable-based, with blueberries and almond butter. At lunchtime, Borg has four meals packed with protein, which can consist of chicken breasts with broccoli or a piece of salmon and small potatoes.
Around four in the afternoon is when Borg has his workout with his trainer Paolo Mascitti. “We do heavy muscle things, we go high weight. We want me to scream, not in pain, but in ecstasy as I try to hit new maxes every time.” Sounds…fun?
Post-workout, Borg has another shake and then snacks on a carb, like a cookie. And then it’s bedtime. On his occasional cheat days, Borg goes all out. First, he has a sourdough pizza with pepperoni, brisket, a quesadilla and guacamole. If he’s going to Trader Joe’s, he’ll get a big bag of chocolate covered pretzels. “Why not?” He says.
