Halle Berry just answered tons of keto questions on her Instagram Stories.
Halle shared her favorite keto diet snacks as well as how to crush muscle cramps while working out on keto.
Halle also shared that she actually stayed keto during her pregnancy.
Plenty of celebrities talk about how much they love the keto diet (hi, Jenna Jameson and Kourtney Kardashian), but I like to think of Halle Berry as the OG celeb keto dieter—and now, she’s dropping some of her keto wisdom as part of her latest Fitness Friday on Instagram.
Not familiar with Halle’s #FitnessFridays? It’s when she gets together with her trainer Peter Lee Thomas for #PHITTalks, when the two get together to talk healthy lifestyle choices—and this week was all about keto.
First things first, though: Halle makes sure to say that she’s not “pushing the keto lifestyle” on anyone. “It’s just the lifestyle that we subscribe to that works best for our bodies,” Halle said, adding that she’s just sharing tips for those who are interested in trying keto out.
It’s #FitnessFriday and y’all have been asking, so here is my answer – my go-to Keto snack? @truwomen BARS! They’re super healthy, plant based and dairy free. They taste amazing!! Halle started off by talking about her favorite keto snack: Truwomen bars. “It’s my favorite new snack,” Halle said of the totally plant-based bars. “This is a treat in a little pink package,” she added, revealing that her favorite flavor was “Dreaming About Donuts.” (Halle also said she likes F-Bomb Nut Butter as a snack, as well).
After a quick snack break (yep, Halle actually downs an entire keto bar in the stories), the two tackle how to prevent muscle cramps while working out on the keto diet. “Electroyltes!” Peter exclaimed. “Magnesium, sodium, potassium—you get those things and stay hydrated,” he said.
Back to snacking on the keto diet: Halle answered questions about how to eat fruit while staying keto. Her advice: Stick to berries (which is also advice from nutritionists). “Berries are key,” Peter said. Halle chimed in: “Goji berries! I like goji berries.”
And then, some big news: Halle said she she stayed keto while pregnant. “I did eat pretty much keto, and mainly because I’m diabetic and that’s why I’ve chosen the keto lifestyle.” Luckily, Halle also said she didn’t crave sugar while pregnant. Instead, Halle said she craved collard greens (yes, really.). “I aways had a pot of collard greens on the stove,” she said. “I lucked out.” (FYI: Keto isn’t recommended during pregnancy, so definitely talk to your doctor if this sounds like something you’d be interested in.)
Finally, Halle and Peter rounded out their convo with a debate: Is it more important to eat well or exercise often? “If I had to choose eat right or exercise, I would always go with eating right,” she said. “Sometimes I’m not able to exercise because of what’s going on in my life but I can always eat right.”
There you have it—Halle’s keto knowledge bomb. Do you think she and Kourtney have exchanged meal plans yet? (I hope so!)
