‘I Ate A Pescatarian Diet And Did Beachbody Workouts To Lose 66 Pounds’
My name is Whitney Burk (@thisiswhitneyburk), and I’m 38 years old. I live in Pontiac, Michigan, and I work in client experience operations. I struggled with my weight my whole life until I started following a pescatarian diet and doing Beachbody workout programs.
Before embarking on my weight-loss journey, I was always trying quick-fix diets. I was usually temporarily successful at losing weight this way, but I would gain it right back as soon as the diet was over. I also lacked motivation and didn’t believe in myself that I could actually lose a significant amount of weight because I was always told that it wasn’t possible. I just didn’t have the right mindset.
One day, I walked past the mirror with no clothes on and was just incredibly unhappy with how I looked.
It was May 2015, and it had been one and a half years since I had my second child. I was the heaviest I’d ever been: 196.8 pounds, and I was just 32 years old. It was at that point I decided to make changes. I still wasn’t ready to hit the gym, so I started with my nutrition and was 100-percent dedicated to paying attention to what I ate.

Instead of relying on a quick-fix diet, I chose a plan that made sense for my lifestyle. I’m a picky eater, so I decided to follow a pescatarian diet.
I also knew that I didn’t mind eating the same things often, so that made it easy to stick to a set meal plan. I also quit drinking soda, coffee with all the sugar, chips, and cookies. Finally, I focused on portion sizes.

Here’s what I eat in a day.
- Breakfast: Two meatless breakfast patties, four egg whites with green and red peppers
- Lunch: Protein shake
- Snacks: A small organic apple with 1 tsp of unsalted almond butter
- Dinner: Broiled salmon, green beans, and 1 small sweet potato with EVOO in place of butter
- Dessert: Flourless banana apple muffin

Once I noticed the weight falling off from my nutrition changes, I decided to go to the gym.
For six months, I would work out 30-45 minutes, five days a week. After six months of heavy focus on my diet and nutrition, I was introduced to Beachbody and my life was changed forever.

Currently, I follow a nutrition plan (Beachbody’s 21-Day Portion Fix) and fitness program that I can do in my living room.
Since February 2017, I have been a Beachbody coach, and I have been loving the journey. I consistently work out at least 5 times a week for 30 minutes. I log into my Beachbody on Demand account and push play on the workout program of my choice. I typically stick to one program and finish it from beginning to end. Once I’m done with the program, I find another Beachbody program to do start to finish.

These three changes made the biggest difference in my weight-loss results.

Since I started my journey, I’ve lost 66 pounds.
I’ve learned that once you learn to quit, it becomes a habit! I quit telling myself I can’t lose a lot of weight. I quit making excuses on why I couldn’t exercise. Once I quit those bad habits, my entire life and body changed. Speak positively about your life and body.
