McDonald’s Happy Meals Just Brought Back Throwback Toys to Celebrate 40 Years
The McDonald’s Happy Meal is 40 years old, and damn, it doesn’t look a day over 20! To celebrate four decades of deliciousness, McDonald’s will be released limited-edition Surprise Happy Meals featuring fan-favorite throwback toys! This is HUGE.
No matter how old you are, you know the best part of a Happy Meal is seeing which toy you get. From the looks of it, things are getting real nostalgic up in here. Retro toys like mini Beanie Babies, Hello Kitty, Changeables, and the Disney 100 Years of Magic collection are all coming back. Some of these toys were so rare to collect back in the day that they’re currently being auctioned off on sites like eBay.
Not only that, but the Happy Meal will be revamped since it’s such a staple to the McDonald’s menu. “After first being introduced in 1979, the Happy Meal quickly became a way for families around the world to create feel-good memories with one another,” a spokesperson told Delish. “We’re also making exciting changes to the Happy Meal that parents can feel good about.”
Starting next year, McDonald’s will be offering reduced-sugar, low-fat chocolate milk. This new recipe will have 25 percent less sugar compared to the previous version, so it gives parents and kids a healthier option to enjoy with their meal. Back in 2013, McDonald’s took away soda as a drink option with the Happy Meal, and more than 52 percent of Happy Meals are now served with milk, water, or juice instead.
The Surprise Happy Meal will be offered in more than 90 countries starting November 7 at participating restaurants. If you needed a sign to live your truth and order a Happy Meal, this is it.
