Kate Middleton Says She “Quite Liked” Labour

While the Duchess of Cambridge usually keeps tight-lipped about the details of her personal life, she recently told the Happy Mum, Happy Baby podcast she “quite liked” being in labour. The 38-year-old credited her three positive birthing experiences to meditation and hypnobirthing – a mindfulness practice that helps expectant mothers to alleviate any stress or discomfort.

However, she admitted it was relative to the “rotten” hyperemesis gravidarum (aka, extreme morning sickness) she’d been suffering with since the first trimester.

“[Hypnobirthing] was hugely powerful and because it had been so bad during pregnancy, I actually really quite liked labour!” she said.

“Because actually it was an event that I knew there was going to be an ending to! But I know some people do have really, really difficult times, and it’s not for everybody.”

According to the HypnoBirthing International website, hypnobirthing requires mothers to use ‘’The Mongan Method’ to tap into their subconscious and rely on their natural instincts to achieve relaxation, “free of the resistance that fear creates.” This promotes the release of endorphins and results in a greater connection to their body, baby and partner.

“I’m not going to say that William was standing there sort of, chanting sweet nothings at me,” Kate said. “He definitely wasn’t! I didn’t even ask him about it, but it was just something I wanted to do for myself.”
