The Internet Is Losing It Over This Mum’s Genius Splinter Removal Hack
It’s no secret that splinters are the absolute pits. But with this new removal technique, the days of hacking away at your skin with tweezers are well and truly over.
On Wednesday, British mum-of-two Claire Bullen-Jones took to Facebook to share her simple trick for getting rid of the little devils and its g-damn genius.
“Kids got a splinter? Grab the Calpol box and take out the syringe that comes with it! Make sure it’s clean obviously,” she wrote.
“Put the small hole at the bottom of the syringe as best you can over the splinter. Once you know you’re above it, make sure the syringe is touching the skin and pull! The syringe will more than likely pull it out in the first go! Pain-free, no tugging and pulling and no little ones upset or scared at getting it out!”
“If it’s a stubborn splinter, just do this a couple of times,” she advised. “Saves so much time and well worth seeing the kids smile at the end of it rather than red faces and tears.”
And the best part? “Because the plastic is clear you can check what’s been taken out of the skin.”
Calpol is a paracetamol solution that’s sold exclusively in the UK, however many brands of children’s ibuprofen on the market in Australia come packaged with similar syringes.
The post has since been shared almost 90,000 times, with many parents praising Claire for coming up with the hack.
“Such a good idea,” one follower commented.
“Very clever,” added another.
