Woolies Is Now Selling Bubble Tea Kits For All You Pearl Fanatics
If you’re a fan of bubble tea, it’s likely that your first experience of those pearls is a fond memory you think of often. Sticking that plastic covering with the wide straw only to plunge it into the depths of the liquid, unsure of those floating black orbs, only to suck them up the straw and become immediately intrigued by the texture, the explosive flavour, and the sheer delight of having something novel to do while sipping away at tea. It’s hardly surprising that bubble tea boasts a legion of adoring fans around the world and now, Woolies is looking to please those customers by selling bubble tea kits that you can take home.
The news comes courtesy of Aussie TikTok star Brittany Boyle (@britty.b), who revealed the news that Woolies are selling packs of bubble tea kits by Avalanche, a New Zealand brand best known for their low-sugar coffee kits which come in a range of flavours. These tea kits are something extra though, and if you thought it was just the flavour you’d be getting – think again. The kits even include straws and delicious pearls, with five servings to a pack.
Priced at just $8, it’s a pretty good deal when you consider the fact you get five delicious servings. As for the flavours on offer, you can choose from brown sugar, caramel, taro, mango, strawberry, matcha, peach, and the OG: milky. In an interview with Pedestrian, Boyle said she had tried the taro flavour and was rather amazed.
“The taro was delicious and the peach was good too,” said Boyle, who discovered the range in Woolworths in Lightsview, Adelaide. “But I’d definitely recommend using milk instead of water for the milky teas and instead of microwaving the pearls soak them in hot water. [it] tastes so much better that way.”

While it’s safe to say the kits won’t quite produce the magic that is created with the bubble tea from the actual shop, it’s still worth it for those who find themselves hungering for a bubble tea late in the evenings and can’t get out to a store to get one. It seems our love for bubble tea knows no end, as there’s even a Bubble Tea Club that delivers DIY-at-home boba packs, shipping right across Australia. And if you are yet to experience the joys of bubble tea, perhaps the home kit is exactly what you need to begin your journey.
