Jennifer Lopez's Personal Chef Just Revealed Her 'Intense' Pre-Super Bowl Diet
- Jennifer Lopez’s personal chef, Kelvin Fernandez, just revealed her exact pre-Super Bowl diet.
- He said she ate basically the same thing every day, and that the diet was “intense.”
- He also previously shared the fridge staples J.Lo and A-Rod eat to stay fit.
In case you had any doubts that training for the Super Bowl halftime show is like training for the Olympics, Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez’s personal chef, Kelvin Fernandez, revealed to Us Weekly how the “Medicine” singer how the ate during the lead-up. TL;DR, her diet was intense.
“It was one of those things where she was eating almost the same thing every single day. There were simple carbs and complex carbs and different types of carbs that we had to implicate into the breakfast, lunch and dinner structure,” Fernandez told the magazine. “I’ve never had breakfast vegetables before, but this woman was having egg white scramble with vegetables three different ways and every single day.”
Because he usually gets creative when cooking for the family’s four kids—think Captain Crunch-crusted french toast, eggs Benedict, and bacon, egg and cheese waffle sandwiches —Fernandez had to be careful not to mix up the plates. Once, he served dinner family-style, with big plates of chicken, rice, and salad, so the family could help themselves.
Apparently, J.Lo wasn’t too happy about it. “The next day she’s like, ‘Kelvin, you served me rice.’ And I’m like, ‘No, no, no, no, no, there was chicken, there was salad. You grabbed the rice!’” After that, he prepped everyone’s plates individually. “If I mess up once, I will hear it, and she deserves to put me on my point,” he added.
Fernandez further explained that J.Lo was able to “joke around” about the rice, but it did change the way he prepared food for her and A-Rod. “From that moment I said, ‘Alright, Jennifer. I’m going to serve you every single plate individually. Do not look at anyone else’s plate. Do not look at what anyone else has,’” he said.
The new approach has since paid off, and Fernandez has kept to an overall healthy diet for the Marry Me star. “She’s such a hard worker. When she puts her mind to something, it’s incredible how much can be accomplished,” he noted. “When she wants something healthy, she’ll stick to it.”
That said, Fernandez did reveal that J.Lo does have a sweet tooth (she’s only human, after all!), but she still doesn’t get tempted by the meals he prepares for the rest of the family. “She’s very disciplined,” he told the publication, calling her diet “intense.”
Previously, Fernandez also shared J.Lo and A-Rod’s family fridge staples, which include sparkling water, eggs, fruits, and vegetables — especially spinach, cucumber and celery, so J.Lo and A-Rod can start their day with green juice. Oh, and a lot of turkey bacon, too.
