The Meaning Behind Kayla Itsines’ Daughter’s Name Is So Incredibly Beautiful

In celebration of her first ever Mother’s Day as a parent, Kayla Itsines has treated her fans to some never-before-seen family photos.

“I feel so lucky to be celebrating my very first Mother’s Day this year, surrounded by incredible women in my family and the BBG Community,” Kayla captioned an Instagram post featuring snaps of her newborn daughter, Arna, enjoying a cuddle with her loved ones.

“The support and positivity I have received from the women in my life has truly helped me transition into life as a new mother and is a great reminder of the value that we as women can provide to one another on each of our individual journey’s. Family and community have always been so important to me and the last few weeks have only reinforced this.”

She added: “Being surrounded by so many strong women is so special and I hope that as Arna grows up, she too has a community of women who love and support her through her own journey.”

The 27-year-old, who welcomed Arna to the world via caesarean earlier this month, also shared the inspiration behind her unique moniker.

“Our daughter Arna Leia is named after my incredible mother, Anna and hilarious sister, Leah,” Kayla explained. (In Greek, Anna is pronounced Arna and Leah is spelt Leia.)

“Family has always been so important to me. When choosing a name for our daughter we wanted to choose a name that was somewhat Greek and traditional by passing on the names of my family through to the next generation.”

And with both parents in the fitness industry, the meaning of the baby’s first name is particularly fitting.

“It was to our delight that in other cultures the name Arna means ‘strength,” Kayla said. “We thought that was so beautiful!”
