The Wind, spreading black spores: tree disease threatens people in Bavaria
Of maple trees in lower Franconia, is the dangerous tree fungus erupted, warns the Landratsamt Nürnberger Land in Central Franconia. The spores can trigger allergic reactions. In-house doctors and hospitals in the circle have already been informed of the Rußrindenkrankheit.

Behind the disease the fungus called " is;Crypto stroma corticale". This one loves the heat and can harm the trees, especially in long hot summers, if they are getting too little water, or by other stressors weakened. It grows under the bark as dark braid, and forming partially-cm-thick spore pads, which look like soot – hence the Name "Rußrindenkrankheit".
In the case of an infected tree, the leaves wither from the top downwards and fall off, later, the bark longitudinal to tears, and mucus, lastly, the bark flakes off in large sections, exposing the black spores, which are washed away with the rain and the Wind.
Infested trees should be reported to
The fungus attacks currently, maple is mainly the mountain, but can also infect the Pointed, silver and field maple. Still, there is no known effective counter-measures, but the stocks in Central Europe, according to the LWF, the Bavarian state Institute of forestry, not as fundamentally vulnerable. For the prevention a sufficient irrigation, and the avoidance of Stress for the trees.
A diseased maple should be reported: cases in the forest the forestry Department in the Hersbruck sub – 09151/ 7270, trees outside of a forest, the area 55 of the district administrator’s office, landscape maintenance, and horticulture, under the number 09123/ 9506531. The wood must then be taken under protection measures and are not covered are removed, in order to foster a further spread; as firewood, it is no longer an option.

The pathogen probably originated from North America, and was, in 1945, for the first time under the name of "sooty bark desease" described.
