Kim Kardashian Says Her New Cheat Meal Strategy Has Helped Her Lose Weight
Despite the speculation around how Kim Kardashian has created her enviable physique, there’s no denying that the woman works hard when it comes to exercise and diet.
The 37-year-old recently gave fans an insight into the strategy behind her eating habits and more specifically, her approach to cheat meals.
“I’ve been really strict with my diet, recently,” the reality TV star wrote on her app. “When I grocery shop, I buy lean protein, carbs, fruits and veggies, but every once in a while, I like to treat myself and have a cheat meal. It can be so hard (and boring) to eat really clean all of the time.”
The mum-of-three says that cheat meals allow her to enjoy food, without overindulging on the regular. However, Kim tends to stick to a strict schedule when it comes to hitting the sweets.
“My trainer, Mel, instructs that you should schedule a cheat meal about once every 10 days. This way you won’t lose any of the progress you’ve made at the gym.”
She says the timing is all about keeping your hormones balanced.
“You can still enjoy your favourite food, as long as you get back on track the next day. Cheat meals work best when you avoid alcohol, since they’re empty calories filled with sugar. This part is easy for me since I don’t really drink – which means I can just have an extra doughnut or two. Kidding! I do have a sweet tooth, though, so normally my cheat meals are desserts or other sweets.”
Kim has been open about upping the intensity of her food and fitness regimen recently, particularly in the lead up to the Met Gala where she rocked an impossibly svelte Versace number.
“I started eating a lot of sweets and I wanted to just change my food patterns to eat healthier and cut sugar out of my life as much as I can,” she wrote. “We always have sweets around and it’s really hard when there are temptations everywhere.”
But Kim’s also been copping heat from both health experts and body positivity advocates for her promotion of controversial weight loss products like appetite suppressing lollipops. So while she might offer major #fitspo, it’s always important to remember that celebs aren’t often the best people to get wellness advice from.
