Wait — those twins are not Rumi & Sir?
Oh, to have the world wrapped around your bejeweled fingers like Beyoncé and Jay-Z. The incredibly famous couple tricked us all into thinking they had unveiled never-before-seen pictures of their twins, Rumi and Sir, on the first night of their joint “On the Run II Tour.” But even after that sneaky trickster move, they are still beloved by all, damn it.
Queen Bey and her husband debuted pictures of two perfectly chubby, cherubic twins on Wednesday night in Cardiff, Wales — and the world went into a frenzy.
“WHAT ELSE IS BEYONCE GONNA GIVE US?? WE ASKED FOR DESTINYS CHILD, WE GOT IT AT BEYCHELLA. WE ASKED FOR TWINS, SHE SHOWED THEM. WHAT ELSEEE,” one fan tweeted, summing up how the majority of people probably felt.
Unfortunately, we were all wrong. A rep for the Knowles-Carter crew confirmed to The Huffington Post that those twins were not in fact Rumi and Sir Carter (who turn 1 later this month) in a brief statement, “That was a film content clip. Not their babies.”
Why, oh why, would Bey and Jay dupe us into believing they were showing off two of the most precious people in their lives? According to some fans, the answer isn’t all that hard to comprehend.
“Y’all talk a lot of shit about jay z and Beyoncé not showing off their twins but after how cruel a lot of y’all were to blue ivy? don’t blame em,” one person wrote.
It’s true; some people have been appallingly nasty toward the couple’s first child, Blue Ivy, calling her ugly, criticizing her hair and making other sexist, disgusting comments. It’s not hard to understand why Beyoncé and Jay-Z might want to spare their youngest children from the same treatment.
While we may not have many answers from last night (namely, who on Earth are these fake babies??), we do know one thing, and that’s that bullying babies is an awful thing to do, people. So, if the actions of some shameful internet commenters could actually ensure the rest of us may never get to see pictures of little Rumi and Sir, can we please do the world a favor and just be kind? (Pretty please. We really want to see those twin pics).
