This Website Will Help You Crush Dry January

Giving up booze during “Dry January” is gaining popularity as people re-examine their relationships with alcohol. But finding replacements to take the place of your favorite cocktails or weekly happy hour with friends can be challenging. That’s why two guys created The Zero Proof, a resource for the sober curious community.

On the website you’ll find reviews of non-alcoholic products, city guides to help you find activities in your hometown or while traveling, and recipes for non-boozy beverages. For example, one recent post listed the 10 best non-alcoholic drinks of 2019.

The Zero Proof was founded by best friends Sean Goldsmith and Trevor Wolfe in September 2019. The two had given up alcohol, independently of the other, and enjoyed improvements in sleep as well as reduced stress and anxiety levels, Goldsmith tells Men’s Health.

“Drinking just wasn’t that fun anymore and it wasn’t getting us to where we wanted to be – personally or professionally,” Goldsmith says.

The friends often discussed their booze-free drink orders and trends in the sober curious community, he says.

“We noticed a proliferation of new and exciting products in the space,” Goldsmith explains. “Despite everything happening in the zero-proof space, there weren’t many folks talking about it. So we started @thezeroproof and www.thezeroproof.com to fill that void.”

Their goal is to make sobriety fun and easier for people. Currently, the two are focusing on ramping up product reviews, city guides, and cocktail recipes, but hope to expand with more premium lifestyle content. For now, details are under wraps. Eventually, they’d like to host official TZP events where like-minded people can network and swap stories.

“Ultimately, it would be wonderful if when people wanted to know what was happening in the zero-proof space—from new products to new spaces with great zero proof menus—they know that TZP is their best resource,” says Goldsmith.
